Install and run MacPorts on Mac OS X

Use “dmg” disk images to install MacPorts for Leopard, containing pkg installers for use with the Mac OS X Installer. (Download Leopard MacPorts “dmg”)
Before you install MacPorts please install Xcode first. (Download Xcode)
Then running the system’s Installer by double-clicking on the pkg contained therein, following the on-screen instructions until completion.
To keep your MacPorts system up-to-date:
#sudo port -v selfupdate

Now you can use MacPorts like FreeBSD Ports Collection …
Useful packages:
#sudo port install wget
#sudo port install mercurial
Search packages those you want-
#port search pkgs_you_need
